Free beta for Mac

DJ. Video.
Karaoke.

Pistamix mixes your music and videos, runs the karaoke night with song requests from guests’ phones, and works with your Numark or Pioneer controller the moment you plug it in.

Free · macOS 12 or later · Apple Silicon and Intel

Pistamix with two karaoke videos loaded on decks A and B, their waveforms, the mixer, and the track library below. The karaoke rotation in Pistamix: six singers in order, each with their song and a key change, next to the microphone settings.

Plug and play

Plug in your controller.
That’s it.

No mapping files, no setup. Pistamix knows these controllers the moment they connect: decks, pads, lights and jog wheels, and even the jog screens on the Mixtrack Platinum FX.

  • Mixtrack Pro 3
  • DJ2GO2 Touch

Using another controller? Any controller can be mapped from Settings, and timecode vinyl works too.

Everything for the night

One app for the dance floor
and the microphone.

Karaoke, built in

The rotation runs itself.

Add singers, change the key for each one, and let autoplay bring up the next singer with a countdown on the video screen.

  • Key change per singer, with keylock
  • Microphone with echo, and the music dips while you talk
  • MP4 karaoke videos and CD+G (MP3+G)
  • Your own music puts karaoke on hold, so dance breaks never get cut off

Song requests

Guests sign up from their phones.

They scan the code on the screen, type their song and name, and follow their place in line. The karaoke version is found for them; you approve it, or let it in automatically.

Video mixing

Music videos mix like music.

Videos blend with the crossfader, and the video output opens full screen on a TV or projector. Audio-only tracks get a clean title card.

Stems

Pull the vocals out of any song.

Split a track into vocals, drums, bass and instruments, right on your Mac.

~20 s

for a 4-minute song on Apple Silicon.

Find it fast

Search by title, artist, BPM or key.

Tracks that mix in key with what’s playing light up. Search online music too, and preview it in your headphones first.

For DJs

All the decks you need.

Sync, 8 hot cues, loops, beat jump, slip, keylock, FX, an 8-pad sampler, Automix, recording and timecode vinyl.

New · Phone remote

Step away from the booth.
The music keeps up.

Pair your phone with a one-time code from the Mac, and both decks and the mixer go with you: on the venue Wi-Fi, or over the internet from anywhere.

The Pistamix phone remote held sideways: deck A playing Neon Avenue on air, the mixer with EQ knobs, channel faders, Mix now and the crossfader, and deck B cued and synced.
The phone remote held upright: deck A with its waveform, Start and 10-second jumps, cue and pause, above the mixer.
  • Both decks and the mixerWaveforms, cue, play, sync and pitch on each deck, with EQ, filter, faders and a crossfader in between. Sideways, it looks like a mobile DJ app.
  • Restart or skip aheadBack to the start, jump 10 seconds, or drag along the waveform to any point. Jumps land on the beat.
  • Your whole librarySearch the music on your Mac, load songs onto A or B, or hand a playlist to Automix.
  • Works from anywhereOn the same Wi-Fi as the Mac, or over the internet. No router settings, and no app to install.
  • Only phones you pairEach phone types a one-time code shown on the Mac. Remove any phone with one click.
  • Hard to mess upStopping or restarting the song that’s playing takes a second tap, so a phone in a pocket can’t end the party.

Turn it on in Pistamix › Settings › Phone remote.

  2. Guests scan and sign upNo app, no account. They pick a song and see their place in line.

Questions

Is Pistamix really free?

Yes. The Mac app is a free beta, and the karaoke website is free to use. A small ad at the bottom of some karaoke website pages helps cover its cost; there are never ads on the TV screen or over the videos.

Can I control Pistamix from my phone?

Yes. Turn on the phone remote in Settings, scan the code with your phone, and type the 6-digit code shown on the Mac. It works on the same Wi-Fi, or over the internet if you switch that on. You get both decks, the mixer, restarting and skipping through songs, and your whole library.

Does it work on Windows?

Not yet. Pistamix is Mac only for now. The karaoke website works in any browser, on any computer.

My controller isn’t on the list.

Many controllers work with a custom mapping you can make in Settings. The listed ones work with no setup at all, including their lights and screens.

What do I need for karaoke?

A Mac connected to a TV or projector, speakers, and a microphone plugged into your controller, audio interface or mixer. Guests use their own phones to sign up.

Where does the music come from?

Your own music and video files, plus online music you have the rights to use. Playing music in public, karaoke included, usually needs a licence for the venue.

Will settings carry over when I switch between the Apple Silicon and Intel versions?

Yes. Both are the same app; installing one replaces the other and keeps your library and settings.
